PDP is a combination of theoretical and practical based training for all road tanker drivers who are loading, transporting & offloading petroleum fuel products in the UK.
PDP applies to drivers who load, transport & offload the following products:
- UN 1202 Gas oil, diesel fuel or heating oil, light
- UN 1203 Gasoline, petrol or motor spirit
- UN 1223 Kerosene
- UN 1863 Fuel, aviation, turbine engines
The classroom based course covers:
- safe loading of petroleum tankers in refineries
- safe unloading of tankers at filling stations
- understanding dynamic risk assessments
- creating safe working environments
- understanding DSEAR
- understanding the role of the driver within the concept of DSEAR
On completion of the classroom assessment, you have 3 months to take the practical assessment.
Valid for 5 years as long as refresher training is successfully completed annually. Time spent in PDP training can be recorded as Periodic Training time and therefore count towards your Driver CPC requirement of 35 hours of training in each five-year cycle if completed on the same day.
